Job Title: CDL Driver / Professional Mover

About the Role:
This role combines professional CDL driving with hands-on household goods moving, ensuring customers’ belongings are transported safely, efficiently, and with care. You’ll handle everything from operating commercial vehicles to loading, securing, and unloading cargo, while providing a positive experience at each stop. Your work will directly impact customer satisfaction and the company’s reputation in the Wilmington area and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate commercial vehicles safely and in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Plan routes and schedules to meet delivery timelines while adapting to traffic, weather, and customer needs.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload household goods, ensuring items are protected and handled with care.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Coordinate closely with crew members during moves to ensure efficient, safe, and organized operations.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers on-site, addressing questions and setting expectations.
- Maintain accurate logs, paperwork, and documentation related to trips, cargo, and schedules.
- Uphold a clean, safe work environment in the truck and at job sites, following all safety protocols.
Key Requirements:
- Valid CDL with a clean driving record and proven experience operating commercial vehicles.
- Demonstrated ability in defensive driving and hazard awareness in varied road and weather conditions.
- Experience with loading, securing, and transporting household goods or similar cargo.
- Strong time management and route planning skills, with the ability to adapt to changing schedules.
- High level of physical stamina and ability to perform safe lifting, carrying, and maneuvering of heavy items.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a professional, respectful demeanor.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and coordinate tasks during moves.
- Flexibility to travel, work variable hours, and respond to changing job demands.
- Self-disciplined, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Desirable Skills:
- Prior experience as a professional mover or in household goods relocation.
- Familiarity with Wilmington, NC and surrounding regional routes.
- Experience using basic moving tools and equipment (dollies, straps, pads, ramps).
- Background in a customer-facing trades or service role.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Valid CDL (Class A, as applicable to company fleet requirements).
- Current medical examiner’s certificate and compliance with DOT physical standards.
- Formal defensive driving or safety training (preferred).
- Any additional certifications related to commercial driving or moving/rigging (preferred).
