experienced Commercial HVAC Superintendent to lead field installation and execution of commercial mechanical construction projects. This role is responsible for managing HVAC field crews, coordinating installation activities, ensuring safety and quality standards, and delivering projects on schedule and within budget. The ideal candidate is a hands-on mechanical leader with strong commercial HVAC construction experience who can manage crews, coordinate with project management teams, and drive productivity on complex job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Leadership & Crew Management
- Lead and supervise commercial HVAC installation crews on construction projects.
- Plan and coordinate daily and weekly field activities to support project schedules.
- Manage manpower planning, labor productivity, and crew assignments.
- Mentor and develop HVAC mechanics, installers, apprentices, and helpers.
Mechanical System Installation
Oversee installation of commercial HVAC systems including:
- Air handling units (AHUs)
- Rooftop units (RTUs)
- Chillers and cooling towers
- Boilers and hydronic systems
- Sheet metal ductwork systems
- Mechanical piping systems
- Equipment rigging and setting
Ensure installations meet project drawings, specifications, and mechanical codes.
Project Coordination
- Coordinate HVAC installation with project managers, general contractors, and other trades.
- Review construction drawings and mechanical plans to plan field execution
- Coordinate material deliveries, equipment installation, and prefabrication activities
- Participate in jobsite meetings and project coordination discussions. Safety & Quality
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA compliance
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings with field crews
- Perform quality inspections to ensure installations meet project and company standards.
Reporting &
Field Communication
- Provide daily and weekly reports on manpower, productivity, and job progress
- Track labor hours and assist project management with labor forecasting
- Identify and resolve field issues, installation conflicts, or schedule risks
Key Qualifications
- 7+ years of commercial HVAC installation experience
- 3+ years of field leadership experience (Foreman, Lead Installer, or Superintendent)
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems and mechanical installations
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
- Experience coordinating large mechanical installations on commercial construction projects
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple crews and maintain installation schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a mechanical contractor
- OSHA 30 certification
- Experience with large commercial equipment installations (AHUs, chillers, boilers)
- Experience coordinating multi-trade mechanical installations
