Sr. Maintenance Technician (SMRT)

Location: Kansas City, Missouri

Compensation: $37+ hourly

In this key leadership role, you’ll support the maintenance and reliable operation of building systems and advanced automation in a high-volume client facility. As a Sr. Mechatronics and Robotics Technician, you’ll lead a shift, guide fellow technicians and controls partners, and drive continuous improvement for materials handling equipment (MHE) and robotic systems

What You’ll Do:

  • Prioritize safety by enforcing procedures and promoting a secure work environment.
  • Repair, maintain, and enhance MHE and robotic systems across the facility.
  • Lead and audit preventive maintenance programs for consistent performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with relay logic, ladder diagrams, control components, photo-eyes, motor starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids, and related devices.
  • Direct emergency repairs on critical assets, develop training plans, and mentor maintenance technicians.
  • Manage work orders in the CMMS, ensuring accurate documentation and closure.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with the client and operations teams.
  • Handle additional duties as required to support facility reliability.

What You’ll Need:

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years of experience with automated conveyors and controls.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of MHE safety standards per OEM and industry guidelines.
  • Understanding of electrical/electronic principles, NEC, and industrial electronics.
  • Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and PLC programs.
  • 3+ years managing work orders in a CMMS.
  • Ability to use statistical tools for metrics like OEE/uptime to guide priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for routine, preventive, emergency, and compliance tasks.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs/ladders (with or without reasonable accommodation).

Preferred:

  • Associate’s or higher degree in a mechanical or electrical field.
  • Prior leadership or vendor management experience.
  • Robotic maintenance background.
  • CMMS expertise.
  • Certifications in electronics, electrical, mechanical, PLCs, robotics, or power transmission.
