General Maintenance Mechanic
Company/Contractor confidential offers complete facility operations management, maintenance and repairs to millions of square feet of premium government buildings and office spaces and provides services for all the following systems or needs: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, call-desk operations, steam, boilers, UPS, generators, custodial, grounds, pest control, fire control systems, elevators, gates, bollards, service calls, architectural, structural and building systems.
Requirements to be Successful:
- 3 to 5 years of experience as a lead maintenance mechanic or in a similar role.
- Facilities maintenance in government, hospital or school environment is preferred.
- Knowledge and ability to operate hand and power tools.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability.
- Computer & administrative skills, timesheet, and strong attention to details.
- Ability to document, communicate and follow up effectively.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Trade or vocational school graduate preferred.
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a Federal Public Trust Clearance to be badged for the federal government job site.
- Pass background check and drug screen.
General Maintenance Mechanic Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of one fulltime general maintenance worker to efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems. Building systems include HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, masonry, flooring, and hardware.
- Perform a variety of general maintenance functions including efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems. Building systems include HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, masonry, flooring, and hardware.
- Be self-performing or recommending future action to be taken to ensure a complete and efficient operating system.
- Run reports, send emails, document and track workflow, follow up on required work, order supplies, and other administrative tasks as required.
- General maintenance and repair skills in trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical.
- Troubleshooting machinery and performing routine preventative maintenance.
- Reading, interpreting, and following instructions and operation manuals.
- Maintaining a schedule for inspecting, servicing, and testing machinery.
- Cleaning, repairing, and maintaining equipment and parts as needed.
- Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, motors.
- Use plaster and compound to patch minor holes, cracks in walls & ceilings.
- Painting structures and equipment.
- Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, sidewalks, replacing paneling and floor tiles.
- Hang doors, install door locks, replace windowpane and any hardware.
- Repairing or replacing sinks, faucets, water coolers, toilets.
- Operating a variety of hand and power tools.
- Operate forklift and other lift equipment.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Complying with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain standards of conduct, background check, drug-free workplace
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform manual labor that requires standing or walking/moving up to 85% of the time, as well as ability to work on ladders over twelve (12) feet, crouching, bending, and accessing constricted spaces.
- Reach, pull and maneuver to work on equipment; and use tools and materials.
- Ability to lift, carry and move objects more than fifty (50) pounds.
- Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and color vision as needed for visual inspections of installations.
- Ability to smell unusual odors relating to chemicals and equipment operation systems.
